RULES

English | Franηais

Welcome To SuperTorrents.Org

By following these simple rules you can ensure yourself that you will be a long lasting member here at ST. Good luck!

:: General Rules - Failure to adhere to these rules will result in a warning or a straight ban!
    • Don't be rude to staff.
    • If a member of staff tells you to do something...do it!
    • Do not upload our torrents to other trackers! (See the FAQ for details.)
    • Disruptive behavior in the forums or in IRC chat will result in a warning ( ). You will only get one warning! After that another mishap will result in a permanent ban!
    • Do not ask for invites for other trackers in Forums and/or IRC. In fact, there won't be any invites requesting/offering/trading allowed in forums/IRC! It can result in permanent ban!
    • Do not even think of trading already formed ST account and/or ST invites for some other tracker ones - you will get permanent ban here and on almost all private trackers that count something.
    • Don't connect to the site or tracker from ips that are obviously not wanted here - this includes government ips, software company ips etc. You will be banned without warning

:: Downloading rules - By not following these rules you will be warned or banned!
    • After you've downloaded 5gb, if your ratio is above 0.5 but below 1.0 you WILL receive a warning and be given time to improve it, fail to do and you're out.
    • In the case that your ratio is not above 0.5 after you have downloaded 5gb your account may be banned. The accounts are automatically evaluated by the system after a two week period.
    • Do not download excessively right from the start as any new user who reaches 20GBs without uploading to due ratio will be banned ASAP without any explanation. This 20GB limit can and will be moved lower at staff own discretion based upon personal judgment and user actions at the time of inspection.
    • The use of banned clients through deceptive means will not be tolerated. These clients are banned for good reasons. See the FAQ for more information on allowed clients.
    • Don't hit and run torrents - this means downloading and then not staying to seed. This ruins the torrent for others and it also ruins your chances of ever visiting this site again. The minimum seed requirements for a torrent are a ratio of 1:1 or seed time of 48 hours (2 days). Failure to maintain this can and will result in disciplinary action.

:: General Forum, Torrent Comments, and IRC Guidelines - Please read this before posting on the forum, breaking the rules there can also result in a warning or ban
    • No aggressive behaviour or flaming (deliberate comments to instigate an argument) in the forums and torrent comments.
    • Don't post unnecessary comments in threads (spam)
    • Only English in the forums and elsewhere on the site. If we can't understand it, we can't moderate it.
    • Try to keep foul language to a minimum, there are very few cases where it's actually warranted. We have all ages reading the forums so please think of others.
    • Absolutely no links to serials, keygens, warez etc. are allowed.
    • Do not ask for any either.
    • Don't 'bump' threads (making unnecessary posts to gain attention for a particular thread).
    • Please don't post large images unless absolutely necessary. A link is much better.
    • No double posting. If you wish to post again, and yours is the last post in the thread please use the EDIT function, instead of posting again. You also risk the wrath of allpowerful, a Moderator who hates double posting!
    • Please ensure that your post is in the correct section, if it doesn't fit a section use the General forum.
    • Please use reasonable grammar. Psts like dis wil b deltd n u wil b warnd.
    • Do not ever ask for invites to stmusic or any other sites.
    • Only sitenicks are acceptable to be used on the IRC network.
    • Please do not post "spoilers" in the comments of any release.
    • Last but not least, PLEASE read the FAQ before asking any questions!

:: Avatar Guidelines - When selecting a picture for your profile, please keep the following in mind:
    • The allowed formats are; .gif and .jpg.
    • Be considerate. Resize your images to a width of 150 px and a size of no more than 150 KB. (Browsers will rescale them anyway: smaller images will be expanded and will not look good; larger images will just waste bandwidth).
    • Try not to use offensive avatars (think religion, nudity, injuries). Extreme cases of these will result in a warning or ban. If you're unsure whether a picture will be appropriate pm a Moderator.

:: Music Uploading Rules - By not following these rules in the music uploads section, you will be warned!
    General uploading rules
    • Do not tag your releases. Only the scene may do that.
    • Title tags are limited to: Encoder, CUE (if included), and LOG (if included). No "EAC"/"SCANS"/"ARTWORK" in the name, even if they are included.
    • Currently the uploader does not like special characters in torrent names, so try to limit names to alphanumeric characters (A-Z and 0-9), spaces ( ), dashes (-), underscores (_), and parentheses (()).  Once it is fixed, this rule will magically disappear.
    • No freely available material is allowed on this site, no exceptions.
    • Only music, MVIDs, and MDVDRs are allowed here.
    • Do not upload a torrent unless you intend to seed until there are at least 1.0 distributed copies.
    • Duplicate torrents in any category are not allowed. There are some exceptions to this rule which are outlined in the relevant section below.
    • Do not advertise other sites in either your torrent descriptions or the contents of your torrent. We don't have any advertising, you shouldn't either.
    •   User uploads.... Whilst we would prefer to keep all the speeds centered around this site. We won't stop users uploading user uploads to other sites. If a user objects to this we suggest not uploading to this site.

    Music-Specific Uploading Rules
    •  MP3 and FLAC are the only allowed audio formats.
    •  Replaygain can not be applied.  Tracks should be as they were made.
    • Music releases must have an average bitrate of at least 192kbps (currently V2/V0/320CBR only), regardless of the format. There is one exception to this rule: (1) LAME V2/APS, and V0/APX releases are allowed to dip below 192kbps. We strongly encourage the use of LAME 3.97 with the V0 switch for encoding. You can find out more information about LAME and its options at the Hydrogenaudio wiki. You can also find a thorough guide for good CD ripping on jiGGafellz' site.
    • Albums should not be ripped to a single track. If the tracks on the original CD were separate, you must rip them to separate files. If you need a tool to split up an MP3+CUE into individual tracks, you could try musiCutter. The exceptions to this rule are mixtapes and blends where the original has no pauses, in which case the uploader is encouraged to rip a single track and include a cue sheet.
    • All music torrents must include a complete track listing.
    • Music releases must be properly labeled and ideally also have corresponding tags (ID3/ID3v2 comment).
    • All music torrents MUST have a proper genre selected (chose 'Other' for MVID/MDVDR and only MVID/MDVDR, do NOT use for unaccepted formats not listed on the upload page).
    • No transcodes or re-encodes of releases are acceptable here. There are no exceptions to this rule, no matter how rare you claim it is.  Bootleg rips are not exempt from this rule, and you are encouraged to PM a moderator if you have proof (screenshot of spectral analysis and encoder settings like the tutorial shows)
    •  FLAC-->mp3 is now allowed as this is most definitely not a transcode. The allowed conversions are to 320kbps/V0 and V2. FLAC-->192 is NOT allowed.
    • Music releases must be a folder containing the music, not an archive (i.e. .rar, .zip, .tar). The only exception to this is if it is a single file where a torrent of a single file would be acceptable, though still not archived.
    • CD Image files like .bin, .iso and .nrg are not allowed in music torrents.
    • MVIDs and MDVDRs may be extracted, or archived in scene format rar files.
    • User Radio/television/web rips and podcasts are not allowed. It does not matter whether it's FM, direct satellite, internet or even if it's a pre-broadcast tape (too difficult for us to moderate such things). Radio does not have enough bandwidth to meet our 192kbps rule. Plus, anything on the radio has already been through several conversions/reencodes.
    • No audience recordings - no matter how rare and/or good.
    • Music uploaded here must not be freely available on the web (from official sources such as record label or band websites). If you could just download from the web, so can everyone else. Uploads can be from other torrent sites but you take responsibility for determining that the music is not transcoded.
    • Music releases should be properly labeled. This means you should not be sharing a folder which is just the album name. The minimum you should have for a folder is 'Artist - Title'. A little extra effort from you saves a lot of time for others. (Artist-Album-Year is fairly standard)
    • File names must reflect the song titles. You may not have file names like track01.mp3, track02.mp3, etc. (00-Artist_Name-Song_Title.mp3 is fairly standard)
    • Torrents should never be tagged as [REQ] or [REQUEST]. Use the Requests section (under Browse) to fill requests manually.
    • The Artist field in the torrent name should contain only the artist name. Any tags like [Advance] or sub-genres (if you must use them) should come at the end of the Title field.
    • CD sourced music must not contain pops or clicks (rip/encode errors). They will be deleted if reported.
    • Cassette and VHS sourced music is not suitable for this site, the frequency range is not good enough to meet the high quality we strive to maintain here.
    • All music torrents must be encoded with a single encoder using the same settings. This means you cannot create a torrent which contains both CBR and VBR files, nor can you upload torrents containing a mix of APS/V2 and APX/V0.
    • Duplicate torrents are not allowed. More specifically: a user-rip V2/APS version is not allowed if V0/APX AND / OR 320CBR is available. Also a 320CBR version is not allowed if and only if a V0/APX copy is available. Scene dupes may be reported, and dupes between the User and Scene section may be reported as well.  You may, of course, upload a higher quality version of something but both versions will stay to increase content and quality/filetype variety.
    • User Uploads may be scene, as long as they have not been modified/retagged in any way.  Please make sure that it is not already uploaded in the scene section to minimize dupes.
    • Report torrents using the report button in their description page, and be sure to include a full reason as to why it needs to be removed. (In duplicate cases, provide links to both)

    Multi Album Torrents
    • Multi-album torrents are currently not allowed on the site under any circumstance. That means no discographies, pitchfork compilations etc. Discographies make it a hassle for users to download individual albums, result in a lot of duplicate albums being uploaded and are generally very poor quality.
    • All music torrents must be one release, so if an album is 2CDs, it is fine to upload that as a single torrent. However, uploading 2 or more different albums in one torrent is strictly forbidden. Greatest hits and best of compilations with several CDs are ok. Boxsets may be uploaded as one torrent so long as they do not contain any discs that are available as another individual retail release.

    Lossless Torrents
    • A FLAC release which contains a .log of the rip process can be uploaded when there is already a FLAC without a .log, or the existing torrent has CRC mismatches. In the latter case, the existing torrent must be reported or your new one will be deleted as a duplicate. If a FLAC torrent already exists, no alternative lossless format may be uploaded.
    • Uncompressed WAV files are not allowed. Many lossless compression routines exist which are cross-platform and severely reduce the filesize. We recommend FLAC.

    Comedy (Audio) Uploading Rules
    • Use the Misc. category for now.
    • Duplicate torrents are not allowed. Same dupe rules as above apply.
    • Lossy-sourced audio is permitted in this, and only this category. That means the source can be cassette, VHS (audio), radio, and even a higher bitrate. We strongly discourage from sharing transcoded material, but realize that for these categories, the audio-quality is less significant than for music. A LAME --V8 (or --V8 --vbr-new [with or without -mm]) rip is allowed on the site at any time, even if a higher CBR rip is already on the site. Only 1 V8 rip, though. The --V8 may be sourced from a higher bitrate lossy encode only in these categories.
    • This rule is not meant to allow the uploading of radio talk shows. We are primarily a music site, and those do not belong in any of our categories.
    • Music is not permitted in this category. This is for spoken word only. Comedy albums that contain music (e.g. Demetri_Martin-Person-2007) belong in this section.
    • Releases must be a torrent of a folder containing the audio files and have a bitrate (or rough average bitrate) at least 16kbps mono (ideally much higher).
    • Archive files (.rar, .zip, etc.) are not permitted in these, or any other audio category.

    Audiobook Uploading Rules
    • Audiobooks must be a minimum of 32 kbps. There is no upper limit but think about the download size as quality increase
    • A range of sources may be used including Tapes (cassette), Videos (VHS), Radio etc.
    • Transcodes are permitted but not recommended.
    • For now, upload them in the audibooks section and choose 192 CBR, we can get them edited afterwards until a more permanent fix is available.

Lastly, if you are not sure whether your upload breaks one of these rules, PM a moderator on the Staff page.
